The Flora and Fauna of Acadia National Park

Our time in Acadia National Park has been amazing. We enjoyed our hikes, time on the paddleboards, beach trips as well as just driving through the park. I thought I would show you some of the beauty Acadia has to offer. Therefore I’ve put together this picture blog of the flora and fauna of Acadia. We tried to find as much wildlife as possible. However, sometimes the girls weren’t able to be in stealth mode. For this reason, we scared more critters away then caught in my photos. However, we did hear an owl and saw lots of birds as well as the animals I do have pictures of.

Copycat Monarch butterfly

This butterfly is a copycat Monarch -according to Ainsley. She learned this from her teacher in 3rd grade. Since Monarch butterflies are poisonous birds know not to eat them. Well, these butterflies use that as their defense as well. Hence, they aren’t monarchs but look-a-likes. Mother Nature is amazing.

I hope you agree with me when I say the beauty, especially the flora and fauna Acadia offers is amazing. We always enjoy going to Maine and being in Acadia. When visiting Acadia or any national park don’t forget to have your kids becoming Junior Rangers. Have you been to Acadia? What is your favorite part of the park? If not, I hope I’ve inspired you to put Acadia National Park on your bucket list.

I remember hiking in Switzerland, hiking down the mountain and I turned around and all I saw were beautiful flowers. We found some great fields in Bomoseen State Park in Vermont too. We just visited the state park and really enjoyed it. Pictures to come.

I’m sure you will love it, Karen. Depending on what you want to hike you may not want to come over the summer. The Peregrin Falcons nest and they close some hiking trails because so they don’t get disturbed.
