What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?
Contents
The Sunshine Blogger Award is the recognition of new bloggers who bring positivity and creative content to the community of blogging! Nominees are chosen by fellow bloggers, so it’s quite an honor to be nominated.
Thank you so much to KMF from KMF is Writing for the nomination!
I was very honored to be nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by KMF from KMF is Writing.
Kmf is a Minnesota gal who loves to write so travel blogging came naturally to her. She has been traveling with her family and friends as well as taking solo trips for over a decade and can help you plan your next vacation. Her 1 favorite thing -besides her husband and son is……drum roll, please… Mac and Cheese. The adult version with all the variations people can think of. Don’t believe me? Check out her website. She’s written a whole blog post about it.
There are some rule for being nominated, here they are
- Thank the blogger who nominated you in your blog post and link back to his/her blog.
- Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
- Nominate 11 new bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 questions.
- List these rules and display the sunshine blogger award logo in your post and on your blog.
Here are the answers to the questions that KMF asked me.
What do I use daily that I think will still be around in 100 years?
In some form – clothing, and shoes. For that matter probably anything basic: bowls, utensils, plates. I don’t think that stuff has changed in the last 100 years and I don’t think they will improve upon them in the future.
Beach or mountain vacation?
If you know anything about me, you know the answer to that. BEACH!!!! We currently live a mere 5-minute walk to our closest beach – at the end of our street. In fact, I wrote a whole blog post about living by the ocean. I plan to retire on St. Croix, really living the beach life in a tropical climate.
Team Harry Potter or Team Lord of the Rings?
I’m Harry Potter all the way. I read the books on the trains and buses traveling around Barcelona when I lived there. Harry Potter rules!!
How many hours do you sleep on average?
This really depends on the night. I have hip issues that I’m going to PT for and right now it’s hit or miss if I get a good night’s sleep. Last night I slept for about 7 hours.
Carry-on or checked luggage?
I haven’t checked luggage in almost 2 years. The last trip was because we visited my dad over Christmas and there was no way we would have fit all the presents in our carry-on. Personally, I like to travel light. I like to mix and match and layer my clothes.
What’s the quirkiest thing you keep in your purse/wallet?
A key. Ok, that’s not what’s quirky about it but the fact that it’s to my childhood home that my parents don’t live in anymore is a little quirky. I think I keep it because it reminds me of that house. And probably because I haven’t changed wallets since they sold the house.
What’s the kindest thing a stranger has done for you?
Helped me up off the pavement when I was hit by a car. The car was backing up on a one-way street. I was trying to cross the street before the walk signal. I stepped into the street at the same time they reversed. Therefore, I never saw the car coming.
What’s the most meaningful place I have visited and why?
There are a few. The Grand Canyon was awe-inspiring. Just the vastness of it. I remember standing there not being able to talk for a bit. Another is the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. It’s hard to describe in words the feeling I had when I was there. There was calmness but also a feeling of peace and love.
What’s the most meaningful book I have read and why?
I’m going old school – The Giving Tree. I truly think this book represents my mom. She was the most selfless person I’ve ever met. She was always doing for others. I miss her dearly.
What’s the story behind the name of my blog?
I like to really get to know the places I travel to. I don’t just want to see the major sites I want to see and meet the people. To be immersed in the culture of the place. I like to eat where the locals eat and see beyond the main streets of a town. If you are beyond the main street and out in the olive groves you are out with the locals. That’s where I want to be.
What is my favorite family tradition?
Christmas stocking for everyone. I know some people think it’s frivolous but to me, Christmas is about the magic. Santa is magic and Santa fills the stockings. It’s the joy of giving and seeing the recipients’ reaction to the gift you gave them.
